June 23, 2006, Newsletter Issue #21: Waterproofing Boots

Tip of the Week

Good boots are either already waterproofed, or can be waterproofed at home with special waterproofing solutions. Look for waterproof fabric boots, like Lowa hiking boots or leather boots that can be treated with Sno-seal or other more durable waterproofing solutions. Don't underestimate the importance of waterproof boots! When hiking, if your feet become wet, blisters will form. This will not only make for an uncomfortable hike, but the blisters will take time to heal, limiting your hiking experiences considerably!
