Sending Distress SignalsShould you find yourself in need of contacting emergency rescue teams and you do not have a working cell phone, try using light. You can use a flashlight to send an SOS signal. Six signals per minute with a minute interval is the internationally recognized Mountain Distress Signal. If you do not have a flashlight, reflect the sun's rays with a mirror or other shiny object. This is a good way of getting the attention of a nearby plane or boat.
